When I was searching for beer cocktails, this is the cocktail that came up first and most commonly. As it’s a classic, I thought it would be great to have to finish off the tasting. The Michelada is a Mexican beer cocktail that came into existence in the 1960s. There are many different recipes now but nearly all are made with beer, lime juice, spices, chilli peppers and served in a salt or tajin rimmed glass. Some versions contain tomato juice and are similar to a Bloody Mary but with beer instead of vodka. I decided the tomato juice version sounded more fun, so I went for that version.
Using Corona as a base, I added tomato juice, Tobasco, lime juice and Worcestershire sauce. It was a fun combination, but I accidentally put in double the amount of Tobasco than I intended, and almost blew the guest’s head off with the spiciness! Apart from that though, this was an interesting and unusual cocktail that got people talking. Just be careful with the Tobasco though!
