As you might have already guessed, I love beer. The difference flavours, aromas and styles make such an amazing combination of experiences. Some beer experiences always stick with you, just like watching an iconic movie for the first time. Banana Bread Beer is one of those beers that I remember vividly trying for the first time. I fell in love with it straight away and remains to this day a favourite of mine. I am quite surprised it has taken me this long to put it into one of the tastings, but when I saw the opportunity I went for it.
The beer was light clear brown with a nice bubblebath style fluffy head forming quickly, even with minimal carbonation. The aromas was quite simply delicious. Big toffee, caramel and sweet banana fragrances rolled together to form a light but enticing note. The taste combined more of the same, with the caramel and fudge meshing with the banana whilst also including a slight spiced edge. The malts on show aren’t heavy, with a light body and tone that makes its very easy to drink. After swallowing, the beer leaves the mouth quite dry and a final hit of earthy bitter hops pulled through.
So I can admit this won’t be to everyones taste. Some will find this way too sweet and I can understand that. For me though, this is not just a beer. Every time I drink this it is like a small throwback to being back in England and drinking it on hot summer nights when I was 22. Nostalgia always makes things seem better than they should be I guess. All I know is that I love this beer and I think I always will. If you like beer on the sweeter side, then this comes highly recommended from me.
