Bryggverket was founded in 2014 and since then they haven’t looked back. Forging forth, they have become one of the best breweries in Norrland, maybe even Sweden when taking into account the prizes they won at the 2019 Stockholm Beer and Whiskey festival. With a mix of themes in this tasting, it seemed only right to have their new Oktoberfest beer to kick the tasting off.
This had a slightly darker golden colour to it, with a large head leaving lacing around the glass when swirled. The big bready aroma is instantly evident, with a hint of grass and honey in the background. This is all about the lovely rich biscuit malt though. Upon tasting, those clean malts come through first again, hitting the palate with a medium body and carbonation. A small citrus edge was also present, but it was a very minor factor. A touch of hay and grass were noted along with a gently rising bitterness in the aftertaste which left the mouth refreshed.
Easy to drink, clean and fresh, this is the type of lager that you could really enjoy a few of in a row. Only 2000 litres of this beer were produced, with it quickly selling out in Systembolaget. We hope to see a slightly bigger batch for next year!
