Sigurd Wongraven is the lead singer and songwriter in the Norwegian black metal band Satyricon, but he has also built up a career in wine production over the past 10 years. At first, he produced just 1500 bottles, but now his company sells over a million litres per year. Wongraven makes all the blends himself, and for this Riesling he has partnered with a wine producer in the Pfalz region of Germany. I’ve always wanted to try his wine, and I have never had a wine in one of my tastings, so I thought it was high time!
I’m not much for reviewing wine, but I really did like this. Hints of lemon, elderflower and green apple backed up the rather sweet and fresh Riesling. I thought this was very easy to drink, and I think I could easily finish off a glass or two of this on a sunny day. I’ve always been a fan of German Riesling, so this was right up my alley. Delightful!
