Pinta Barrelbrew in Wieprz, and are situated next door to the PINTA brewery. In 2019, they crowdsourced PLN 4,150,000 (11 million kronor) to start up the project. This beer was aged for 18 months in Rittenhouse Rye whiskey and Heaven Hill bourbon barrels and is the 3rd vintage created. This was made using Pilsner, Chocolate, Brown, Crystal, Extra Dark and Carafa malts along with oats to finish. It also has a number of adjuncts added, such as Maltodextrin, coconut, cocoa beans, Brazilian coffee, and two different types of vanilla. As this was rated extremely high on both Untappd (4.34) and RateBeer (100), this seemed like the perfect stout to end the tasting with.
This poured with an extremely black colour along with a mocha head that disappeared very fast. The aroma was robust and delicious, with the milk chocolate, coconut and vanilla all noted straight away. The body was thick and sticky, with hardly any carbonation noted on the palate. The taste was delightful, with the heavy milk chocolate once again at the forefront, along with hints of oak, bourbon, syrup, tonka bean and a deep roasted coffee hit. The taste was long lasted, and was noticeable long after swallowing.
This was an absolutely amazing beer. Deep, rich and heavy, it is exactly what I would look for in an aged imperial stout. Although some may balk at the high price, in this case I think it is worth every penny.
