Founded in 2018 by Niclas Aronsson och Anna Claesson in Strömstad, Fermenterarna are known for their distinctive can artwork and quality beers. After finding success quickly, they have now expanded and moved to Gothenburg. This has been brewed with extra oats for a velvety smooth and creamy mouthfeel and has been generously dry-hopped with the New Zealand hop Riwaka, along with Citra and Mosaic. Of course, a can of a goat hypnotising the drinker had to be in the metal tasting, so I grab some straight away, and I’m so glad that I did!
This was vibrant light yellow in colour with a thick head that held fairly well. The standard NEIPA aroma of mango, pineapple and guava came through on the first sniff, which wasn’t overpowering but fresh and pleasant. With the first sip, it was clearly thick bodied, but also sweet with a lot of mango in there. It has a textured, soft body which also had hints of peach, tangerine and a touch of cream. The sweetness held on through the aftertaste, leaving a fresh tropical note which was verging on the sticky side. The alcohol was well hidden, with only a slight warmth in the throat after swallowing.
This was a nicely made hazy IPA that I could easily drink again. Although the price is quite high, it is a 44cl can, so I think they can get away with it. This was another very nice beer from the Fermenterarna crew!
