So as this was the 7th anniversary tasting of the Umeå Beer Club, I wanted to try something slightly different. For the first time ever, I had a bottle of 8 different samples, and the guests at random were given a sample from one of those bottles. 6 bottles were from Revel Cider, a Canadian based cidery who have exported a six bottle mix box here to Sweden. The other 2 bottles were different ciders from Hjulsö 103, a Swedish cider producer.
I’m not going to sit here and write a review about all 8 of the ciders, but most people were surprised at just how sour they were. I think the guests were expecting a bit more sweetness but were met with a range of tart flavours. Some guests enjoyed their sample, and to be honest, some didn’t. I will say it was really fun to do this with lots of different samples, so I think it’s something I might repeat at a future tasting!
